6 Steps to Feeling More Beautiful (Without Putting on More Makeup)


There’s more to beauty than just skin and makeup. Yes, I said it! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and most days that beholder is you looking back at yourself through harsh, judgmental lenses…or in many cases, your bathroom mirror.

I started VirginN because I love seeing a woman light up when she realizes just how beautiful she can be. So this week’s blog is dedicated to all of you, because I know you are beautiful from the inside out. Here are some of my favorite ways to help you feel even more beautiful – without putting on more makeup!

Step #1: Healthy Eating and Plenty of Water
Nothing makes you feel better in the morning than getting up and drinking 8 ounces of water, but are you getting enough water throughout the day? Be sure to drink the recommended glasses of water each day based on your size, weight and activity level. If you’re waiting until you’re really thirsty to drink a glass of water, then most likely you’re already dehydrated. So be sure to sip plenty of water throughout the day. While we’re on the topic of what you put in your body, it’s essential to pay attention to what you put in it for food. Fruits, vegetables, and lean protein really have an effect on your overall well-being. Your skin will glow, your mood will be lifted and you’ll have much more energy to get through even the busiest day if you take care of what you put in your tummy.

Step #2: Stop With Critical Image Assessments
Many of us can’t help, but be that nagging nelly when it comes to self-image. Give yourself a break and instead of looking in the mirror and focusing on what you don’t like about yourself, instead take a few minutes every day to compliment and appreciate what you do love about yourself. Maybe it’s your striking eyes, athletic shoulders or even your absolutely perfect posture. Whatever you love about yourself, take notice and put the criticisms aside.

Step #3: Smile
A smile can say a thousand words, and there have been scientific studies that show, smiling can improve your mood. Whether or not that’s actually true, is still up in the air, but just in case, start your day off with a smile and see how it can improve your mood. Keep it up throughout the day, and you’ll be viewed as more approachable. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather talk with a smiling person than someone who is frowning or just looks angry!

Step #4: Glow
Beautiful healthy skin requires regular exfoliation. I don’t recommend using nut scrubs since they cause microscopic tears in the skin, leaving it vulnerable to bacteria. Instead, look for an exfoliant that uses perfectly round spheres such as VirginN Bio Active Micro Polish. Use 1-2 times per week to reveal a beautiful healthy glow.

Step #5: Believe it!
Makeup is a fun tool, but beauty really does come from within. If you feel that you look beautiful with or without makeup, your confidence will show. If you believe that you are a gorgeous woman, then you absolutely are!

Step #6: Get Your Zzzz’s
Staying up until 1am and getting up at 6am to start the day over is not all it’s cracked up to be. Your body needs rest so it can recover and rejuvenate. All the makeup, water, healthy eating in the world can’t help you feel better if you’re struggling to get through your day without falling asleep standing up. Get to bed at a decent hour and start your day rested, relaxed and feeling confident!
